How it Works

  • You will be hired into an OR training position while upgrading your OR education.
  • Northern Health pays for the training, textbooks, etc.
  • Once you successfully complete the training you are moved into an OR position.

Job Summary
The OR/P.A.R. nurse assesses the physical and psychological needs; plans, implements, evaluating and documents the nursing care for the patient during the peri-operative process, and the immediate post-operative period.  Willing to do a minimum of 8 days on call per month.

Top 4 Key Responsibilities

  • Determines client status and response to actual and potential health problems, plans interventions, performs and evaluates planned interventions.
  • Administers medications based on patient status and physicians’ orders. Assesses charts and reports patient responses to medications to physician.
  • Provides direct nursing care by performing duties such as personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, wound care, management of intravenous, chest drainage and assisting physician with other medical / surgical procedures.
  • Provides direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life threatening situations and violent and aggressive behavior.

Job Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Current Level C CPR certification required.
