Job Description

Northern Health is accepting applications for a LPN for permanent part-time position at Mountainview Lodge in Kitimat BC.

Mountainview Lodge is a single level building attached by a hallway to the Kitimat General Hospital & Health Centre. The building situated within walking distance of physicians’ offices. There are 36 beds, 3 designated for respite and 3 short stay beds. There is a monthly recreational calendar displaying a variety of activities intended to promote physical, social, spiritual and emotional well-being. Hairdresser and barber services are available onsite. Hairdresser services are available for a fee determined by the Kitimat Hospital Auxiliary. Mountainview Lodge also provides an on-site integrated community adult day program.

Job Summary
Works within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and vision and values of the Northern Health. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor or designate, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse applies Nursing Process, performs assessments, plans, provides nursing care, and may provide direction to other staff. Top Four Key Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient/resident/family’s actual and potential strengths and limitations including physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs. Where appropriate, encourages patient/resident participation in activities of daily living.
  • Develops and contributes to the development and on going changes to the individualized plan of care, including attending and providing input into multidisciplinary care planning meetings and family conferences.
  • Performs nursing procedures and interventions and monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the procedures and interventions. Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications including PRN medications in accordance with organizational and pharmaceutical policies and procedures. Reports problems and changes to the Clinical Supervisor and/or designate.
  • Works in partnership with the multidisciplinary team as an interdependent member to meet the care needs of stable clients and their families.

Job Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • One (1) year of recent, related acute care or residential experience.
