As a Sexual Health Clinician, Prostate Cancer Support Care with VCH you will:

  • Provide direct care to clients and family members in the assessment and management of sexual concerns in the area of disability.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in client centred care, education and research.


Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Three years' recent related experience and certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and code of ethics of the BCCNM.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence based nursing practice related to rehabilitation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of theories and systems of family dynamics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation team process.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and role model best practice.
    Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and facilitate team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and work effectively with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information system.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
