We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Registered Nurse at our Bayview Campus.

Summary of Duties

Acts as a nursing resource for youth, adult and psycho geriatric patients suffering with mental health illness, who present in emergency. Functions within an interdisciplinary team assisting with conducting mental status evaluations, collects collateral information, provides follow up counselling, and therapeutic interventions, and facilitates referrals and sourcing of outpatient and community resources. Practices in accordance with Sunny brook’s Patient Focused Care philosophy.


  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario registration required
  • Current C.L.S. Certificate required
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required
  • Previous ambulatory and crisis psychiatric nursing experience, both youth and adult required
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Mental Health Crisis Nursing required
  • Expert computer literacy particularity with respect to co-ordinating zoom meetings, PAS scheduling, setting up and monitoring excel spread sheets and Quadra med.
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Certification preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish therapeutic alliance with patients with various mental health diagnoses
  • Ability to conduct a nursing mental status evaluation
  • Knowledge of CBT, DBT, BSFT, and SSFT, as well as a Comprehensive knowledge of psychotropic drugs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community resources for those affected by mental illness
  • Demonstrated understanding of Patient-Focused Care and the ability to utilize the principles in daily practice
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, be flexible and manage time effectively required
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and within an inter-professional team environment in a fast paced pressured environment.
