Registered Nurse - Stroke Services Coordinator

Under the general supervision of the HCC Care Manager and in collaboration with the North Zone Stroke Lead, Program Managers and Directors, this Registered Nurse - Stroke Services Coordinator position supports the delivery of standardized, evidenced based care to stroke and TIA patients across the continuum. Located in Hinton HCC and providing outreach support to Edson, Jasper and Grande Cache Healthcare Centres, this position is responsible for promoting implementation of approved stroke protocols through trans-disciplinary staff orientation, education and consultation around stroke and TIA management, with the goal of supporting Stroke Unit Equivalent Care services. This position also provides the conduit through which patients are linked with the Chronic Disease Management Programs and support services in the community. As a member of the stroke team, this position also provides direct nursing care where required.


As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited academic institution preferred.1 year relevant nursing experience preferred.Certification as may be required within the scope of the position assignment.
