To the Hiring Committee:
Please accept my application for the permanent full-time registered nurse position. I have completed the HLM and Gerontology program as Graduate Certifications and I am licensed to work as a registered nurse in Ontario. I am excited about this opportunity and I have enclosed my resume for your consideration.
My clinical work has allowed me to develop the strong assessment skills and ability to predict changes in the client status necessary to be a successful RN on both the units as well as the ICUs. As a former employee, I am currently working as a PSW in Alzheimer’s unit and am fully aware of the unit policies and procedures which will benefit the unit and patient. I competently provided care and physical assessment for patients with IV, PCA, and CADD pump, tracheostomy, CBI, post-operative, blood transfusions. When caring for a patient on intermittent gastric suctioning, I identified that the regulator was in the unsafe red zone. I immediately decreased the setting and informed the CRN. I professionally guided the new nurse and educated her about the right setting. On another occasion, I found that patient was about to be administered wrong dosage of Insulin; I educated the new nurse about rights of medication administration and how to cross check before administering the medication. I am committed to lifelong learning and plan to enroll in the critical care program.
I am compassionate about providing quality care and believe in the importance of an evidence-based, client and family-centered approach. As such, I would contribute to the mission by providing exemplary experiences to patients and their families.
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss how I would be able to make a positive contribution as a member of your team.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
